Ward 2 patients will benefit from two new comfortable recliner chairs following a fundraiser at Gorleston Golf Club last year.
More than £6,260 was raised through the charity golf day that was organised by Glen Harman. A friend and former member of the club had suggested to him that it would be good to do a fundraiser to say thank you to the hospital team for their work during the pandemic and Glen took up the challenge.
He rallied friends, family and businesses to support the event and managed to raise well over £6,000, which he handed over to the hospital in September last year.
Earlier today Glen visited the ward to see the chairs purchased with the funds – and heard more about how useful they are for patients from Ward 2 Deputy Sister Stacey McLaughlin, who is pictured with our charity co-ordinator Maxine Taylor and Glen.
The chairs provide additional comfort for patients with cardiac and other conditions and can be used to raise legs or to sleep in if patients prefer to be in a more upright position.
Maxine said; “We’d like to thank Glen, everyone at Gorleston Golf Club and everyone who supported the day for raising this huge amount for our charity. The chairs mean patients can be more comfortable as they recover and they will make a real difference to so many people.”
