A cheque for £510 has been handed over to our Lung Cancer specialist nurses after fundraising at a 60th birthday party.

Debra Thurston decided that her 60th birthday gathering would help support others and she started fundraising in memory of her late father and a close friend, Mark Larham, who recently died of lung cancer.

Through the event, which included a raffle and collection, and generous donations from friends and family, she raised over £500 and yesterday, Wednesday 19 October, she and her husband Eddie both visited our hospital to officially hand over the money to our Charity Co-ordinator Maxine Taylor and Lung Cancer Specialist Nurses Emily and Laura, who had looked after Mark.

Maxine said; “We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to this fundraising and particularly thank Debra for using her milestone birthday to benefit future patients. The donation is very much appreciated.”
